Optimal operation is the motto that VEPF has been followed so far

At the 2009 closing conference, the Director of VEPF, Mr. Truong Manh Tien, stated that year 2008 was a milestone to the development of VEPF. It was marked by the issuance of the Government's Decision No. 35/2008/QD-TTg substitute its preceding decision No. 82/2002/QD-TTg, ruling VEPF's new operation and structure. The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Tran Hong Ha, attended the conference.

 In the year of 2008, VEPF worked out 49 projects in the fields of wastewater treatment at industrial zone, solid waste management, waste smoke treatment, traditional village pollution management, environmentally-friendly technology development and municipal waste collection. 31 out of 49 projects were approved to be financed with the total of VND 79.93 bn (approximately USD 4.7 million). Besides, VEPF sponsored some environmental protection awards. The additional capital for VEPF apart from charter capital up to now is about VND 26.72 bn (approximately USD 1.57 million) from environmental protection fee applied to wastewater, deposits for environment restoration in mineral exploitation  and EUR 927,366 from CER transaction fee.

In year 2009, VEPF will keep track of its services, and put more attention to significant programs of the Government and MONRE such as river basin recovery and traditional village pollution management. It aims to give loan up to 100 bn VND (approximately 5.88 million USD) and to sponsor up to 15 bn VND (approximately 0.88 million USD) this year.
